— Billy Joel
The camera is simply a miraculous tool for telling stories. I have had the unbelievable good fortune to find my highest creative expression early in life (thank you mom > dad for my 1st camera). I fell in love with photographing girls at school. I went to work for a portrait studio after high school, and studied fine art photography and filmmaking while honing my storytelling abilities. After graduation, I opened my wedding photography studio as Joe Photo. It took a few years to build, but far exceeded my expectations. For more than 20 years I had the privilege of photographing hundreds of amazing couples in Southern California, while also traveling for exotic destination weddings. I just loved my job. My career centered around celebrating and traveling, two components of my life I hold dear.
After my 20 year marriage ended in 2013, I put wedding photography aside and traveled America by motorhome for the next 6 years developing a new love for documentary photography and street portraiture. The street portraits are now featured in my first book titled DIRTY KIDS. The documentary photography of our travels inspired our latest offering called Love Focused Legacy.
I love being Joe Photo.
